We help you to film yourself
Absolute Works will supply you with a very easy to use camera and stand free of charge, along with simple instructions, a guide and tips. You record your memories, stories and messages as and when you want
When you have finished send the camera back to us and we sensitively edit and compile your film and supply you with as many DVD’s as you would like – we can also put it on a private online platform

A Professional Films you
After an initial phone consultation we will send you a questionnaire to help you remember the important things you want to record. We then make an appointment for one of our professional, courteous and polite film makers to visit you in your home to film your stories and memories.
Don’t worry it won’t be a whole film crew – two people at the most.
Your finished film (which can include some of your photographs, slides and other videos if you would like) will be supplied on as many DVD’s as you would like, a thumb drive and on a private online platform.
Your happiness and satisfaction are our main concerns. All our professionals are DBS checked at the highest level.

The Book of Your Film
After your film has been made we can use it to create a beautiful hard backed book. Printed on fine quality paper and featuring a transcription of your film you can add additional photo’s, anecdotes, that favourite family recipe, a list of your favourite records or holidays – the choice is yours and there are endless possibilities.
The Book of Your Film starts at just £169 Extra Copies are from £40 each. You can order as many copies as you would like for relatives and friends.
Our prices are fully inclusive of professional transcription service, scanning either prints of slides, carefully collating the book, design, print and p&p.
We want you to be entirely happy with your book and can send you an electronic ‘proof’ prior to printing.

We supply everything you need to film yourself
1. Very Simple Guide and Tips
After your initial enquiry we will send you a guide, tips and a kind of questionnaire that is designed to jog your memory and to help you prioritise the most important aspects of your story. It’s not too taxing and hopefully you will enjoy how it makes you remember things from the past.
2. We send you everything you need
We supply you with a very easy to use camera and stand free of charge. You very simply record your memories, stories and messages as and when you want. Maybe you could record yourself playing that favourite piece of music, your heirlooms and your garden.
When you have finished filming, send the camera back to us and we sensitively edit and compile your film.
The whole process should be fun and relaxed – It’s not a problem if you make mistakes. We show you how to view what you’ve done and you can always do it again.
Nobody is expecting you to be a Hollywood director !
3. Editing and Final Film
Once the editing is finished we supply you with as many DVD’s as you would like – we can also put it on a private online platform if you would like.
We archive your film so one day if you want to add to your film we can do that very simply.

Using a Professional to Film your Life Story is easy
1. A Short Questionnaire
After your initial enquiry we will send you a short questionnaire
The questionnaire is designed to jog your memory and to help you prioritise the most important aspects of your story. It’s not too taxing and hopefully you will enjoy how it makes you remember things from the past.
2. The Day of Filming
Relax, put on clothes that you’re happy in. The most important thing is for you to be YOU.
When we arrive it won’t be a whole film crew. At the most it will be two people, one for the camera and possibly another to take notes. We want you to be happy and relaxed so first we will have a chat, maybe a cup of tea and then set up.
3. Filming
Using the questionnaire as a basis we will begin to film. Don’t worry the camera won’t be in your face, we want it and you to be as relaxed as possible.
Most people forget that there is a camera running and are pretty happy to talk but it is understandable to be nervous. There is no hurry and with expert film editors on hand we can help make even the most camera shy people look pretty good
4. Editing
Top directors say that it’s in the editing room where films come alive. We agree and use only professional film editors with years of experience to help make your film come alive.
Filming might take a few hours on the day and after that we will start the editing process. Using your old photographs we will create a finished film of about an hour long.
The whole process will take about 5 weeks.
We can also give you a hard drive of all of your ‘footage’.

‘I wanted to leave a message for my children to tell them how much I loved them and how proud I was of them.
I knew that they wouldn’t be searching through my phone looking for that ‘odd video’ so I decided to record one and get it done properly.
I used my phone to make a recording and it took me quite a few goes to get it all as I wanted. I emailed all of my attempts to Memories on Film and they did a great job of editing out all of my mistakes and putting it together. It has a very nice title card at the beginning and it was supplied on a very smart Memory stick with a beautifully engraved tag (I asked for two).
I put one Memory stick inside a tin Christmas bauble which I know that my grandchildren will find and another in my Jewellery box with a little note’.

You may well know Jean from her role as Dolly Skillbeck for over ten years in Emmerdale. She recorded 948 episodes.
We are incredibly grateful to Jean for taking time out to shoot our Memories on Film video – which she shot during Lockdown.
Lockdown in some ways was our inspiration for our ‘Shoot it Yourself’ video package. With so many people feeling isolated and us not being able to film we came up with idea of producing treasured memories safely and socially distanced.
As well as giving your family something amazing that they can treasure forever you will also be helping Joss Searchlight Children’s Cancer Charity.
A percentage of every booking will go to our son’s charity, set up following his death at just ten years old in 2011.
Joss Searchlight helps and supports families across the UK who have a child with cancer. They supply emotional and financial support, advice and of course – life enhancing treats
